So Long Summer

At the end of this summer, I am reminded how wonderful it is to set goals, write them down, and then actually do them! Every summer, I write a list of things that I would like to do with my time off. I was able to do almost everything on my list this year. First, I always like to do a few projects with my house. I had my hardwood floors throughout my top floor refinished and they look beautiful! Then I wanted to "pimp my patio." I saw some ideas that I wanted to try and I was barely able to squeeze this project in. It happened the week before school started.

I was also able to go on some amazing trips, teach my art class, and spend some great time with family and friends. Now school is starting and that's a whole other adventure!

Australia and New Zealand Trip

This was such an amazing trip! It was winter time there, but it was pretty mild and still so beautiful! My friends and I had so much fun and did some amazing things. We spent the first week in Australia and one week in New Zealand.

This was so amazing! We repelled down 11 stories into the caves. They are full of worms that glow in the dark. We did a zipline in the dark, cliff dove into a underground river and did some black water rafting, then rock climbed up waterfalls. It was so awesome!

These were some trees in Aukland by a botanical garden. They were so pretty!
There were a lot of rivers and beautiful waterfalls. We went on lots of fun hikes. This shot scared some of the other girls because I had a shaky landing!
This is the Hamilton, New Zealand temple. It was beautiful. It was so nice to do a session there. It felt like home.
We went to a traditional Maori dinner and show. They sang and danced, then fed us a hungi. This is a dinner cooked in the earth with hot rocks and it was sooooo good!
In the middle of the town of Rotorua in New Zealand, there is a whole forest of redwood trees. It was amazing! That was one of my favorite places that we went.

We went to the Shire where Lord of the Rings was filmed and had lunch in Hobbiton. It really was so beautiful. Lots of rolling green hills covered in sheep.

You Gotta Have Friends!

The gang from the branch. We went up to Yellowstone and hiked and saw the sights.

Every year my friends Jessie, Marissa, and I get together and have lunch and pedicures. We started our first year teaching together at Grovecrest. We just hit it off and have been friends since. We love our little reunions. We just pick right up where we left off and laugh and have so much fun!

Aruba!

My three friends and I took off to Aruba for a week. I have to admit when we decided to go, I didn't even know where Aruba was. All I knew was that the Beach Boys sang about it. It is a little island about 11 miles about Venezuela. It was so beautiful and so relaxing. Just what the doctor ordered!

This was a great day. The weather was beautiful and the wedding was really special. It was so neat to have so much family make the effort to be there. I am so happy for Colt and Kaylee. I don't think I could have hand picked a more perfect girl for Colton and our family.

Dad's birthday

I love my daddy-o and we've been buds forever. He's the best ever. I'm so lucky to have him and the rest of my crazy family isn't so bad either. I don't know what I did to get such a great family! We celebrated with, of course, delish food and cake and ice cream, then easter egg hunts for all ages. The adult one was fun-who doesn't love having an excuse to be silly and act like a kid again?

Spring Break

We went to see Ben and Layani in Iowa, then headed down to Nashville to see my aunt Annie. This is her house. It was beautiful! We went and toured some civil war plantation houses. It was great! We spent lots of time with Ben and his family and saw some cousins we haven't seen in a while. I loved catching up with my Tennessee cousins. Then we hurried home for Jamison's baptism. It has been such a great and relaxing week. I really needed it!

Colton's Home!

Colton came home from his mission on Dec. 20. I missed him so much and am so excited he is home. Looking back at all that has happened in the last two years, it seems like forever since he left, but having him home, it is like we blinked and he is back. Time is such a funny thing. He learned and grew so much and did such a wonderful job. I'm so proud of him, and so happy that he was able to have those special experiences!

Thanksgiving

It was just Mom, Dad, and I this year so we took the boat and went down the Lake Mohave in Nevada. It was sunny and about 70 degrees. What a nice change! We fished, cruised in the boat, read, and relaxed. It was a little untraditional, but really fun!

Dad caught a big striper and also a big hook in his thumb. Ouch!! What is a family vacation without a trip to the emergency room??

We went up above Idaho Falls hunting for the perfect tree. It was really strange to not have any snow, but it made hiking around a lot easier. I think we made out like bandits and found some terrific trees!

I was Tink from Hook this year. I love dressing up for the kids at school. It was a crazy day with lots of sweets and fun. I painted faces at a community trick-or-treat, then headed to a Halloween party. It was a great night!

My Fall Celebration!

I went out to eat with the girls after my conference. I love girl bonding time!
Jessie, Marissa, and I all began teaching together and were fast friends. Every year we get together and celebrate our birthdays. We are all fall babies! I look forward to seeing them and having a great meal together. Food and love are always involved!

Mom always gives me some fall decorations for my house; I got attached to my two new friends pretty fast!

I felt like I was about to go on a scary roller coaster when I walked into the salon for this cut. I had been thinking of going this short for a long time, and finally got the guts! It has been a fun change and hey, I even lost a few pounds after the big cut!

My Summer Adventures!

I went white water rafting with my branch. I was pretty scared! I did not want to get dumped in the rapids. I squeezed that raft so hard that I think I could give Suzanne Somers and her thighmaster a run for her money. It was really fun!

Every year I have a before-school-starts-sleepover with my nieces and nephews. We had paper airplane flying contests, watched a movie, and told stories on the tramp. The sleep isn't always the best, but it sure is worth it!

I spent a week down in Lake Powell. It is one of my favorite places on earth! I went with my mom and dad, Ben and Layani, and her family. It was fun to spend time with my family and get a little sun!

I went biking with my friends at Targhee Ski Resort. It was beautiful!

I woke up really early on a Saturday and went fishing with Dad, Andy, and Joel. I am very proud to say that I out-fished everyone! That's pretty sad too because I've never been a very good fisherwoman.
